As a Brit chick now living in America (and has been for almost four years) I would like to know how Americans who are now living in the UK are finding life there. Are you loving/hating it? Do you think you'll settle there permanently? Will you return to the States?
I did meet one young man working at the local Dunkin' who told me he lived in South London and hated it! Another man - my husband's colleague - told me that if ever he wanted to go on a diet, he'd another trip to England. Oh dear! 😕
Hopefully there'll be some positive comments here but no worries - let's hear it!
I didn't actually live in London, it was only a visit. It was a really beautiful city with so much history, culture, stunning architecture etc. But I couldn't get over the fact that everything was so closed in. I'm not claustrophobic but I could imagine it wouldn't be great for someone who was. Also I'd be terrified of driving on the roads over there - how do you fit so many vehicles on such narrow roads? I also found that a lot of bars and clubs close a lot earlier over there. And Brits really do have some strange perceptions of Americans! No we don't all support Trump, we don't all carry guns, and we don't all live in these big grand mansions!!!
But I have to say after being told how reserved and straitlaced British people are, I found most of them to be warm, friendly and very fun-loving. I also love how it's a very diverse city. And although most Americans don't make very flattering comments about British cuisine, I didn't have any complaints about the food. And what I think is amazing is how much Brits have an appreciation for the arts - much more I believe than in America.
England is a very nice country and even though I couldn't see myself living there right now, who knows what might happen in the future.
