So I came across this article about the new trend in engagement rings and wondered if everyone else agreed with it. My husband clearly knows me well because when he proposed, he proposed with a beautiful diamond ring which is what I would have gone for. Each to their own and everything but while I love coloured gemstones, engagement rings with coloured gemstones really aren't for me. When you think about it, your wedding and engagement rings are going to be worn every day so naturally you wouldn't want it to clash with what you're wearing. When I think about it, almost every lady I know who's married or engaged has a diamond ring, although my mum tells me that coloured gemstones were more common in her time.
What's your engagement ring like? And for those who are not engaged yet, would you dare to wear the new trend?
Haha! I'm pretty unorthodaox so somehow I can't see me with an engagement ring! 😁 But emeralds are pretty unorthodox for an engagement ring so I guess that would be pretty cool for me. I could also go for rubies, onyx, pearls or even hematite. But a girly, classic diamond solitaire? Hell no!
I never actually had an engagement ring. My ex husband was very cheap! Nah, just kidding! LOL! It just wasn't important to me. But if I did, the style would be more important than the stone. I'd prefer something very arty looking and unique, rather than the usual engagement type bling. But if I could choose I would go for a turquoise (my fave stone) on a silver band. Not at all conventional but then neither am I!
Mine has diamonds and opals! I wanted something different but didn't want to stray too far from tradition. And no I wouldn't have had a problem with emeralds at all. I think they're beautiful.
My engagement ring has got diamonds in it and I love it. My style is quite classic. There's nowt wrong with any of the other gemstones but I think where engagement rings are concerned it's got to be diamonds. Well for me anyway!
I've been married before but never had an engagement ring. If I had my time again and had an engagement ring, I wouldn't go for an emerald because gren isn't really my thing but I'd go for something unsusual like a yellow saphire.
Haha! I didn't have an engagement ring. People are stunned that I have a non-trad wedding ring! But my husband and I are very non-traditional so why people are shocked by that I don't know. But I would definitely opt for an emerald. I like green and I also like the fact that emerald engagement rings are not something that many women would typically have as an engagement ring so yeah - bring it on! Haha!
I like emeralds but I'm quite fussy. They need to be the right shade of green and have plenty of sparkle as a lot of the emeralds I've seen look a bit dull to me. But I do like colour so if I had been given an emerald ring I wouldn't have had a problem with it. Diamond engagement rings are gorgeous - but I need that little something extra! My ring has sapphires as well and I know it hasn't impressed a lot of people but I don't care - I love it. And it's proof that my husband does occasionally listen to me! 😉
I'm not engaged. Not sure I ever see that happening TBH! But I like emeralds and wouldn't mind having an emerald engagement ring. It would be a good reflection of my Irish roots I reckon! 😁💚
